Donations DMBQ and Panache

 » »

2005-11-08

This past weekend the Japanese rock band, DMBQ, with whom An Albatross was on tour got into a serious car accident which resulted in the loss of China, the drummer of DMBQ.

This is a great tragedy however there are more troubles. DMBQ tour manager and Panache Magazine scribe Michelle Cable remains hospitalized following head surgery. Moreover, since the tour is obviously canceled there are issues to pay for flights home to Japan. In light of these issues, there is now a DMBQ/panache benefit paypal account that they're asking for donations. We totally trust these boys and know the money will get into the hands of dmbq/their family/michellepanache.

Please check out www.livejournal.com/community/an_albatross , the paypal address is on there.

thanks so much.

DMBQ Tragedy

2005-11-07

It is with a lot of grief that we announce that Japan's DMBQ who have been on tour with An Albatross have cancelled their tour following a tragic car accident this weekend.

DMBQ's van rolled from I-95 in Delaware en route from Baltimore to Brooklyn this afternoon. All members of the band have been hospitalized, as well as Michelle Cable from Panache Magazine and booking, who has been managing their tour.

Mana "China" Nishiura did not survive the accident. China was DMBQ's drummer, as well as the drummer in Shonen Knife. China will be missed.

Michelle Cable is conscious following surgery for a head injury. The other members of DMBQ are stable but sedated and are expected to recover.

More news will be posted shortly on the remaining dates.

This is a horrible tragedy and please email DMBQ or An Albatross to show your support.

Tunng to release debut album in February!
Ace Fu's latest discovery from across the pond, Tunng, will release their debut album, "mother's daughter and other songs", in February of 2006!

"Now comes their debut album, a stunning collection of infectious and beautiful songs. Mixing acoustic instruments and electronic sounds, the album drifts along like a hazy summers day, each song gently fading into the next, as the songs weave their magic around the listener."

-Ptolemaic Terrascope (May 2005)
